FRONT END DEVELOPER / DESIGNER

ripe is no longer looking to fill this position. Thanks for your applications!

ABOUT US

We're a close knit group of designers doing top notch work in a fun, laid back environment. We're a full service creative studio, meaning we do a bit of everything: branding, marketing, web design, packaging, promotional pieces, photography, video, etc. Our clients include everyone from local businesses to national and international organizations like the Art of Peace Foundation, Coca Cola, the World Bank, AIGA and more.

Want to know more about us? We keep a pretty detailed log of life in the studio on our blog.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an entry level front end developer and designer to join our crew. You should have a strong coding background along with a good eye for design. You should have a solid understanding of design principles and theory, typography, etc. Also, and perhaps most importantly, you should be easy-going but you should still have a strong work ethic!

ABOUT THE JOB

We're looking for someone who, simply put, will help us code websites — we have strong front end talent in the studio currently but could use a hand. Your main responsibilities will involve taking completed designs in psd form and turning them into fully functional sites. Additionally you'll be helping out on maintenance for existing sites. Of course it won't all be code — we'll want you to be doing some design work as well. However, in the beginning at least this job will be probably about 90% development, 10% design. We're looking for someone to work in the studio, not a telecommuter.

NECESSARY SKILLS

  • HTML & CSS mastery, or very close to it (if you develop sites in Dreamweaver design view, this job is not for you)
  • Experience with PHP & various CMS's (WordPress specifically, Drupal, etc)
  • Experience with Javascript (common libraries)
  • A good eye for design and the ability to convert psd's into pixel-perfect HTML.
  • Browser testing experience
  • Experience with the applications you'd expect - Adobe Creative Suite, OS X and whatever coding application you prefer to use (we like Coda)
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to take direction and to work with an existing coding workflow (and to help improve it — we're open to change!)
  • Desire to constantly improve how you/we work
  • Similarly: Up to date with best practices, new technologies, etc.
  • Good organizational and communication skills

HOW TO APPLY

  • Submit your resume and cover letter to codemonkeys [at] ripe [dot] com
  • You MUST include a digital portfolio with no less than 3 samples of past work
  • Provide brief descriptions of your involvement for each project
  • No phone calls please
  • Make sure you follow these steps! We tend to ignore people who don't.

Absolutely no offshore companies or recruiters!
This is an in-office position, not for telecommuters.
